Trek in God´s home. 6 days

The Roraima trek starts in Santa Elena and take us into the bizarre and unique table top mountain of Roraima, a place where endemic plants such as bromeliads, carnivore plants, moss, lichen, and orchids grow. The Roraima trek is an unforgettable experience.

1 Day: Kukenan

We drive to Paraitepey (1200m) with a four wheel for 90min. From there we hike for four hours to the Kukenan camp. two Pemon indians help us to cross the river. If there is a flood, it is a really adventure, because the rock on the river are very flatten. We recommend to wear trekking sandals in orden to avoid slip hazards. Our Pemon guidewill put a rope in the river that help us to cross the river.

The camp lies on 1050m. A warm dinner wil be expecting us at the camp.

2 Day: Base camp of Roraima Trek at 1870m

We hike for 5 hours to Roraimas base camp at 1870m. During the hike we will see orchids and carnivore plants. The base camp is located in a jungle area which offers lots of good photo motives. We have a light lunch and a warm meal for dinner.

3 Day: High plateau at 2800m

After breakfast we hike a slope for two hours through the rainforest to the wall of the table top mountain of Roraima. After two more hours we reach the high plateau (2800m) through a very bizarre geological formations.

Once we arrive up there, there are a fossilized sea turtle and a dragon´s head expecting us! We have a light lunch as soon as we reach the camp.

In the afternoon we explore the high plateau. For dinner we have warm meal at the camp.

4 Day: Exploring Roraima

In the morning we explore the Table top mountain of Roraima. The crystals and the abyss of Roraima are incredible. The grotesque geoplogical formations resemble faces, fossilized saurian or imagination figures or witches. A really unforgettable day.

5 Day: Return to Kukenan

In the morning we still have time to take some pictures before the descend begins.

The way back will be done in seven hours from 2800m to 1050m. The hike ends at the river Tök. This route has a downward slope. We must cross again both rivers. At the camp we can have a refreshing bath in a small waterfall from where we have an amazing view to the Kukenan and the Roraima tepuy.
