Highest Waterfall of earth: Angel Fall and Canaima. Low Budget Tour

The Canaima tour take us to highest waterfall of Earth: Angell Falls (Salto Angel) 986m, an UNESCO world heritage. The waterfall drops over the edge of the Auyan Tepui in Canaima national park. The Canaima tour is one of the highlights of any trip to Venezuela.

 

1 day: Flight to Canaima

Early in the morning we flight with a Cessna from Ciudad Bolivar to Cainama airport for an hour. The lagoon of Canaima is located close to the settlement of the pemon indians in Canaima national park. With a long motorboat we ride across the Canaima lagoon passig by the waterfall of Salto Hacha, Salto Golondrina and Salto Ucaima. After that we hike to an impressive beach and to the waterfall Sapo and Sapito. In the dry season is a highlight to walk behind the waterfall. Accomodation at a basic lodge.

2 day: Angel Fall in Canaima national park

In the morning we ride on a motorboat for 4 to 5 hours in the Carro and Churun rivers until we reach the Raton island (Mouse island) From this point we hike for an hour through the jungle till we reach the Angel Fall. A huge mass of water (specially in the rainy season) drops from almost 1000m high, leaving a natural swimming pool at its base. The camp is located relatively close to the base of the Angel Fall.

Accomodation in a basic lodge with hammocks.

3 day: Flight back from Canaima to Ciudad Bolivar

Downstream we ride to Canaima lagoon while regarding the impressive Tepui landscape and the waterfalls of the Saltos Golondrina, Hacha and Ucaima. The fine sand at the Canaima lagoon, makes of it an irresistible beach where anyone wants to swimm and sunbathe. The flight back to Ciudad Bolivar will be in the afternoon around 2pm.
